Canceling your VPS

Learn how to delete your VPS service immediately or before its expiry date from the OVHcloud Control Panel.

WARNING: Any additional IPs or licenses attached to your server must be deleted separately. Not doing so will incur the continued cost of using these services, including parking fees for the additional IPs.

 

Instructions

The methods for canceling your VPS service differ depending on whether or not that VPS has a commitment, or subscription. You can determine this by navigating to your VPS's home page in the OVHcloud Control Panel and looking at the Subscription panel.

Select the tab that matches your commitment situation.

Cancel your subscription

To delete your VPS, from the OVHcloud Control Panel:

  1. Click Bare Metal Cloud in the top navigation bar.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Virtual private servers and select your VPS.
  3. In the Subscription box next to Commitment, select the more options ... button and choose Cancel subscription.

On the next screen, choose one of the options:

At the end of my current commitment period, TERMINATE my service.

  • After the end of your current commitment period, your service will be terminated. If you change your mind, you can reverse the cancellation up to 24 hours before the commitment end date.

At the end of my current commitment period, switch my subscription to month-to-month.

  • After the end of your current commitment period, your service will remain active and you will be charged the default monthly price. You will no longer be subscribed, and you can delete your service at any time. (So see this process, switch to the "Without Commitment" tab of this guide.)

Make your selection, then click Confirm.

You will be returned to the Home page for your VPS and will see a confirmation banner at the top of the screen.

If you have changed your mind about your selection, return to the Subscription box next to Commitment, select the more options ... button and choose Stop cancellation of service.

Delete your VPS

To delete your VPS, from the OVHcloud Control Panel:

  1. Click Bare Metal Cloud in the top navigation bar.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Virtual private servers and select your VPS.
  3. In the Your VPS box next to Name, select the more options ... button and choose Delete VPS.

In the pop-up menu, choose one of the options:

Delete service on its expiry date.

  • You will maintain use of the VPS for the remainder of your billing period. You can reverse the request ("cancel the cancellation") at any time before the end of your billing period.

Delete service now.

  • You will forfeit the use of your VPS for the remainder of your billing period. You are required to confirm the cancellation through a link provided via email. This action cannot be undone.
    WARNING: If you choose to delete your service now, you must follow a link from an email sent to you. The service will not be deleted until this link is clicked and the subsequent form is filled out.

Delete service on its expiry date

Select Delete service on its expiry date. and click Confirm.

You will see a confirmation banner at the top of your VPS's home page.

If you wish to reverse your request, simply select the more options ... button next to your VPS's name and select Delete VPS.

In the pop-up menu, you can select Undo service deletion. or Delete service now. (see the full instructions for this option in the section below).

Click Confirm after making your selection.

Delete service now

Select Delete service now. and click Confirm.

Check the Inbox and/or Spam folders for the email associated with your OVHcloud Control Panel account. You should see one similar to what is shown below. Click the confirmation link.

NOTE: If you don't receive the email within an hour and you have checked your Spam folder, please contact OVHcloud US support.

The link will take you to a brief survey to fill out. When you have chosen your responses, click Confirm cancellation.

SUCCESS! You will receive an email shortly confirming your cancellation.
