In this article, we will be discussing OVHcloud Monitoring, which allows you to monitor the status of your machine from the OVHcloud Control Panel. It also automatically triggers an intervention at the Data Center when the server becomes unresponsive to ICMP (ping) requests. Additionally, OVHcloud will notify a customer via email when we detect a potential issue with their server. All OVHcloud Dedicated Servers and networks are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week by the OVHcloud technical teams.
Monitoring IP Addresses
In order to implement a restrictive firewall without losing the benefit of Monitoring, it is necessary to whitelist the following IPs:
|xxx.xxx.xxx.250 (xxx.xxx.xxx.aaa is the server IP)||icmp|
|xxx.xxx.xxx.251 (xxx.xxx.xxx.aaa is the server IP)||icmp + Port monitored by OVHcloud Monitoring|
|netmon-icmp-vin-2.monitoring.us.ovhcloud.com||126.96.36.199||icmp + Port monitored by OVHcloud Monitoring|
|netmon-icmp-hil-2.monitoring.us.ovhcloud.com||188.8.131.52||icmp + Port monitored by OVHcloud Monitoring|
First, log into the OVHcloud Control Panel. Click Bare Metal Cloud on the top of the page. Then, click Dedicated servers on the left-hand sidebar and choose your server from the ensuing list. In the "Service status" box, click the Configure button next to "Monitoring".
You will be presented with three options: Disabled, Enabled with proactive intervention, and Enabled without proactive intervention. You can read more about these options in the following screenshot.
OVHcloud Monitoring offers our customers a variety of ways in which OVHcloud can provide information about the status of your Dedicated Servers. We highly recommend that you take advantage of these free services.
